Light Regional Council, is located less than an hour north of the Adelaide CBD.
Due to an internal promotion and a newly created role, Council is seeking two full-time Senior Planning Officers to join its Development Services Team at the Freeling branch office.
The population of the Council area is rapidly expanding and offers diverse assessment opportunities across heritage, rural, tourism and the Roseworthy Township Expansion Area.
The Greater Adelaide Regional Plan foreshadows future growth of up to 33,000 homes at Roseworthy in the coming years.
Ideally with at least 5 years professional development assessment experience and working knowledge of the planning and design code, these roles require outstanding communication skills, sound judgement, strong attention to detail and a flexible, innovative approach.
With a strong customer service focus, the Senior Planning Officers assess development applications from verification through to recommendation while providing clear technical and procedural advice on development matters to the organisation and broader community.

Key responsibilities include:
· Managing complex planning applications including new land divisions
· Engaging with a range of stakeholders, including developers
· Ensuring Council's statutory obligations are met
· Supporting less experienced staff and contributing to the planning team
· Assisting the review of plans, programs and policies
· Providing technical expertise, reports and advice to Council.
You will be a degree qualified planning professional with experience assessing and managing a range of major land use applications, including land divisions, along with strong knowledge of development assessment processes and relevant legislation.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement and strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
The ability to manage competing priorities, meet strict timelines and build productive relationships with customers and stakeholders will be highly valued.
