Position Description:
Support Your Way is seeking motivated support workers to join our growing personal care team for persons with disabilities within the South Australia Metro - South Area.
Support Your Way is an organisation that seeks to ensure every person with disability is supported to be living their best lives, tailored to their own individual experience and needs.
Support workers promote a person with disability's independence in the community, supporting them in their daily living tasks.
Shift expectations:
Support workers promote a person with disability's independence in the community, supporting them in their daily living tasks.
These tasks may include transferring and manual handling, domestic assistance, social support, in-home personal care, medication administration, meal preparation and transport.
At this time we are seeking staff with a particular skill set, the successful applicant will show confidence and diligence, reliability and have experience or understanding of neurodivergent .
We are looking for someone with clear English, reliability and experience or willing to learn with mobility aids such as a device called the 'Oxford Switch Stand Transfer'.
You will be trained by a senior support worker until both parties feel comfortable with this device.
The right candidate can be trained up to support the participant in AM and PM to assist for bed transfers and ADLS in the future.
Must be available to work all of the following shifts weekly ongoing;
North Haven
Monday-Thursday: 8.00am - 10:00am
Thursday: 4.00am - 7:00pm
Other tasks may include transferring, manual handling, domestic assistance, exercise assistance, social support, in-home personal care, meal preparation,
Please note, these shifts will be conducted at a participant's home and or out in the community.




Preference of Support Workers
Please note this particular recruitment opportunity will look for applicants who meet the preferences of our participants.
The following preferences are highly sought after and include:
3+ years experience with transferring and positioning / manual handling
Proficiency in English, with strong communication skills and active listening for instructions
Experience with Cerebral Palsy
Experience with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Medication credentialed to support participants with medical administration and monitoring of Blood Sugar Levels and Blood Glucose Levels
Applicants who are compassionate, empathetic, understanding and exhibit self-initiative
Applicants with a professional background in medical or allied health areas would be advantageous
Comprehensive Car Insurance is desirable
Willingness to travel beyond 30>minutes to assist participants, as well as demonstrating commitment to taking on shifts of all duration both short and long hours.
Requirements
Successful applicants will be flexible in their working hours, possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate personal attributes and qualities to provide exceptional support and care to people with disability individually and within a team.
Requirements of the role include:
National Police Check
Full Australian Driver's License
First Aid and CPR Certificate
DHS Working with Children Clearance




NDIS Workers Screening Certificate
NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
Manual Handling Certificate
Certificate of Medical Administration
Vaccinated against COVID-19 (third booster required)
Commitment to undertake in-house training and professional development as required
Reliability and flexibility to work a variety of shift times and travel long distances where necessary
Prior experience in support worker roles is preferred, but those with less experience are also encouraged to apply.
