The Role
The City of Mitcham is seeking an experienced and collaborative project professional to lead the oversight and successful delivery of a significant community heritage initiative — the Mitcham 175th Anniversary Commemorative Publication.
This role will work alongside a Community Project Group to ensure the publication is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard, while appropriately recognising the stories, people and history that have shaped our community
As the Project Oversight Lead, you will provide end-to-end oversight of this high-profile publication project, ensuring strong governance, effective stakeholder engagement, sound financial management and quality project outcomes.
Reporting to the General Manager Community and Organisational Services, you will act as the key link between Council, the Community Project Group, contributors and specialist stakeholders, supporting the project through its planning, development and delivery phases.
In this role you will:
Provide oversight and delivery assurance for all aspects of the publication project.




Develop and monitor project plans, timelines, budgets, risks and reporting requirements.
Implement governance, quality assurance and editorial review processes.
Guide and support the Community Project Group in project planning, documentation and decision-making.
Build strong relationships with community members, historians, authors, Kaurna representatives, designers and publishing partners.
Identify and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
Prepare executive updates, reports and recommendations for Council leadership.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Demonstrated experience in project management, project oversight or coordination of complex stakeholder projects.
Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively with community groups and diverse stakeholders.
Experience managing risk, competing priorities and sensitive issues.
Exceptional written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear reports and recommendations.
A sound understanding of governance and working within a public sector or similar setting.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
A collaborative and adaptable approach, underpinned by integrity, professionalism and sound judgement.
