About the Role
We are seeking a Buyer to join our team at SPX AtoN in Somerville, VIC.
This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our supply chain operations.
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing, procuring and managing materials, components and services to support our manufacturing operations.
Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will help ensure continuity of supply, inventory optimisation, cost efficiency and product quality.
Reporting to the Materials Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your procurement expertise within a dynamic and growing organisation while contributing to products that support critical marine, aviation and infrastructure applications worldwide.
What You'll Be Doing
Source and identify suitable suppliers for raw materials, components and services.
Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and supply agreements to achieve value-driven outcomes.




Raise and process purchase orders while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Monitor supplier performance, including delivery, quality and service levels.
Manage inventory levels in collaboration with Planning, Warehouse and Operations teams.
Analyse spend data, market trends and commodity pricing to support procurement decisions.
Resolve supplier issues and maintain solid supplier relationships.
Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier information and contract documentation.
Liaise with internal departments to understand material requirements and forecast future demand.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise procurement processes and reduce costs.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within a manufacturing, industrial or supply chain environment.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
Experience using SAP or a similar ERP system, with a strong focus on data accuracy and process compliance.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Sound knowledge of inventory management principles and procurement processes.




The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
A commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.
Desirable
Experience with supplier performance management, strategic sourcing and supply chain optimisation.
Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Logistics or a related discipline.
Equivalent combinations of relevant experience and training will be considered.
