The role will be based at the Buzzard Iron Ore Project in South Australia which is a leading producer in the mining and resources sector in S.A, committed to delivering safe, efficient and sustainable mining operations.

The Buzzard Iron Ore Project is located roughly 800kms Northwest of Adeliade and 125kms Southeast of Coober Pedy.
The Project is a DSO Hematite exporting between 3-3.5mtpa of lump and fines to our valued customers.
The Project commenced as a Greenfields operation in late **** with estimated life at present of 4-6years with continual resource drilling ongoing.
Please note that this role advertisement is on behalf of our Project Operations and direct employment will be discussed during interviews with candidates regarding the managing Company of the Buzzard Project.
Employment will not be under the advertising company.
About the role
We are seeking aGeneral Manager - Mining Operationsto lead and oversee all operational aspects of theBuzzard Project in South Australia.
This is a full time position with significant strategic importance to our Stakeholders.
Reporting to the ELT, you will provide leadership across all aspects of the site, including mining, maintenance, contract management, fixed plant crushing, technical services and deliverables, ship build plans, camp services, road haulage and operational performance.
Working closely with stakeholders, you will ensure alignment across all functions while driving a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
This is a high-impact leadership role suited to someone who can build strong relationships, influence diverse teams, and deliver sustainable operational outcomes.
This will be a Adeliade based role with site travel as required.
Relocation packages are open for discussion to the right candidate.
Key responsibilities
· Provide overall leadership and direction for the Buzzard Mine operation;
· Foster a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements;
· Partner contractors to drive operational performance and achieve production objectives;
· Lead and support site-based teams across all operational areas;
· Ensure effective planning, coordination and execution of operational activities;
· Manage site operating budgets and resources to deliver sustainable business outcomes;
· Develop high-performing leaders and teams through coaching, mentoring and succession planning;
· Provide input into production personnel on mining method / blends as necessary for shipping schedules;
· Manage all geological, mining engineering and surveying activities;
· Build strong relationships with employees, contractors and key stakeholders;
· Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, productivity and operational efficiency;
· Reviewing and analysing monthly financial and operational reports to monitor performance, identify risks and opportunities, and support corrective actions where required;
· Oversee environmental monitoring, land rehabilitation, and adherence to approved mine plans and permits (PEPR obligations); and
Assist other business stakeholders as required to meet production and project objectives.
What we're looking for
· Statutory certification in Quarry Manager or SSE.
· Valid driver's licence.
· First Aid Certificate.
· Tertiary qualification preferred in engineering, geology or similar field.
· Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills
· Ability to foster collaboration and influence outcomes across diverse teams and contractors.
· High level understanding of all relevant legislation relevant to role in the mining industry in SA.
· Reviewing and analysing monthly financial and operational reports to monitor performance, identify risks and opportunities, and support corrective actions where required.
· Experience in leading technical service teams
· Strong budgeting, forecasting and operational planning capability
· 15+ years Project Management experience in open pit mining operations.
· 5-10 years' experience as a General Manager of large teams in a mining environment.
· Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications.
