Press Brake Operator
WS Fabrication is a busy general sheet metal jobbing shop.
We turn out a wide variety of work — small batches, one-offs and short production runs — across mild steel, stainless and aluminium.
We pride ourselves on getting jobs out the door on time, accurately, and finished to a standard our customers come back for.
We are looking for an experienced Press Brake Operator to join our team and take ownership of the bending bay.
If you read a drawing, set up your own tooling, and take pride in producing parts that drop straight into the next process, we want to hear from you.
The role
• Set up and operate our CNC press brake across a wide range of jobs and materials.
• Work from engineering drawings to produce bent parts to tolerance — first time, every time.
• Select, change and maintain tooling (punches, dies, back gauges).
• Carry out first-off and in-process checks; sign off your own work.
• Communicate with the supervisor and the laser / fabrication team to keep jobs flowing.
• Keep the bending bay safe, tidy and well-organised.
• Willingness to take on other varied tasks (not press brake) when required.
About you




• 2–5 years' experience operating CNC press brakes in a sheet metal environment.
• Confident reading engineering drawings — third-angle projection, bend allowances, GD&T; basics.
• Able to select and change tooling and set up your own jobs with minimal supervision.
• Solid eye for detail and a pride in quality finish.
• Reliable, safety-focused, and good to have around the shop.
• Australian work rights and a current driver's licence.
Nice to have
• Experience with Durma and/or Delem controllers.
• Off-machine programming experience.
• Forklift licence (LF / HRWL).
• Welding (MIG / TIG) for backup duties.
• Trade qualification (Engineering / Sheet Metal).
