Senior Finance Officer | Bulloo Shire CouncilBulloo Shire Council is seeking an experienced local government finance professional to lead a capable and cohesive finance team delivering key financial services across the organisation.
This is a hands-on leadership role offering genuine variety, close collaboration with managers and the chance to influence financial outcomes across the organisation.
The Role
Reporting to the Administration and Finance Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of Council's finance team, overseeing rates, procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable and reception.
Beyond the day-to-day management of the team, you will prepare financial reports, support budget development and monitoring, complete reconciliations, contribute to asset management and work closely with operational managers to provide practical financial advice across a broad range of Council activities.
This role works across the organisation and will suit someone who enjoys building relationships, improving processes and balancing operational responsibilities with strategic financial support.
Experience working with procurement and asset management will be highly regarded.

You are an experienced local government finance professional with the confidence to lead people, support managers and deliver accurate, timely financial outcomes.
You enjoy working in a collaborative environment, are comfortable managing competing priorities and bring a practical approach to solving problems while maintaining a strong focus on customer service.
To be successful you will bring:
Demonstrated experience in local government finance.
Experience leading and supporting finance staff.
Strong financial reporting, budgeting and reconciliation skills.
Sound knowledge of local government financial legislation and accounting principles.
Experience with procurement processes and financial governance.
Exposure to asset management systems or asset accounting will be highly regarded.
Well-developed communication and stakeholder management skills.
A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality customer service.
