A customer support role with real variety, responsibility and room to grow
We are looking for a practical, curious, engaging and highly reliable person to join our Lonsdale Operations Team at the beginning of September.
This role sits at the point where customers, products and operations come together.
With customers at the heart of all we do, you will enjoy building professional and trustworthy rapport while helping customers understand what they need, preparing quotations, processing and checking orders, coordinating freight, and following requirements through to production and dispatch.
Over time, you will also develop the technical product knowledge needed to confidently support our established distributor, trade and commercial customers, and end users.
We are looking for someone who enjoys learning how products work, communicates well with trade-based customers and takes genuine pride in getting the details right.
What we do
We are a South Australian manufacturer with a range of products including Australian-made specialist HVAC-R filtration products and antimicrobial treatments designed to deliver consistently cleaner, healthier indoor environments.
We support HVAC-R distributors, contractors, service technicians, commercial customers and end users across Australia, with international momentum also building.
Filtex operates from our Lonsdale premises, alongside another of our brands, Woodwool Australia.
While this position is primarily aligned with Filtex, you will be joining one connected team supporting two growing Australian brands.
This creates broader exposure to manufacturing, importing, inventory, logistics, customer operations and product development than is often available in a traditional customer-service position.
About the role
Reporting to our Operations Manager, you will support the complete customer journey, from the initial enquiry through to the accurate supply of the order.
Your responsibilities will include:
Responding to customer enquiries by telephone and email
Asking the right questions to understand customer requirements
Preparing quotations using established pricing, products and precedents
Entering and checking customer orders
Confirming product codes, quantities, measurements and delivery details
Communicating stock availability and production lead times
Coordinating freight and dispatch requirements
Supporting invoicing, customer records and inventory administration
Checking alignment between customer orders, production and dispatch
Maintaining price books and product information
Following enquiries, commitments and outstanding actions through to completion
Escalating unusual, technical or commercial matters with appropriate context
Documenting common customer questions and technical decisions
Contributing to procedures, reference materials and continuous improvement
As your knowledge develops, you will be well supported with education and training to progressively assist customers with:
Product identification and sizing
Product applications
Technical product questions
Suitable alternatives and substitutions
Common troubleshooting enquiries
Seasonal ordering and preparation
New products and product education
A role that changes with the season
Our workload naturally changes throughout the year.
During peak season, the role has a stronger focus on:
Customer enquiries
Quotations and orders
Accuracy checking
Production and dispatch coordination
Freight requirements
Timely communication and follow-through
Outside peak season, there is greater opportunity to focus on:
Proactive customer contact
Preparing customers for the next season
Developing technical product knowledge
Updating customer information and price books
Improving procedures and reference materials
Capturing knowledge from recurring enquiries
Supporting broader operational improvement
The right person will enjoy the variety and understand that responsive customer service and accurate administration are both essential to delivering a reliable and consistent customer experience, whichever the season.
Because our busiest period coincides with the Australian summer, this is when our customers rely on us most.
Team members are expected to be available throughout this peak season, with annual leave expected to be planned outside this period wherever possible.
What you will bring
You will need:
Strong customer-service and communication skills
High attention to detail
Technical curiosity and a willingness to learn
Confidence building professional and trustworthy rapport with tradespeople, distributors, commercial customers and end users
The ability to manage several priorities without losing accuracy
Good judgement about when to act and when to seek guidance
A professional and calm approach when customers or deadlines create pressure
Sound computer skills and the ability to learn current systems
Dependable follow-through
A willingness to document and share what you learn
A collaborative approach to working within a small team
Experience with MYOB, inventory systems, Microsoft 365, quoting, order processing, HubSpot and freight coordination would be beneficial but is not essential.
