The Derwent Valley is a stunning, diverse location just 30 minutes from Hobart, extending from New Norfolk and its surrounds to spectacular world heritage wilderness areas.
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Development Engineer.
This position is responsible for fulfilling its statutory land-use planning obligations and delivering high-quality engineering projects consistent with Council policies, procedures, external regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
To meet the requirements of the Urban Drainage Act **** (Tas), including catchment and asset planning to meet hydraulic, environmental sustainability and customer service level requirements
To be successful, please respond to the selection criteria below:-
A qualification in Engineering or related discipline, with a qualification in project management being highly desirable.
2. Demonstrated ability in interpreting and applying the Development Engineering requirements of planning schemes, legislation, regulations, standards and codes relevant to the development of land in a Local Government environment.
3. Demonstrated ability to provide clear and consistent advice to all participants in the planning process in relation to application requirements, planning scheme and relevant legislation, regulations, standards and codes.
4. Experience in project management of a diverse range of works and operations in public, private, or local government workplace.
5.



Extensive knowledge of project management practices with the ability to follow a formal Project Management framework on capital projects.
6. High level of budget control including forecasting and the management of operational and capital costs within budget.
7. Well-developed time management skills to facilitate effective and efficient assessment of a variety of concurrent planning applications and projects.
8. Well-developed written skills to enable the preparation of reports and recommendations that can be clearly understood and acted upon.
