Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Physiotherapist to join the Kilmore District Hospital team at Northern Health.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.
In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role:
The Grade 2 physiotherapist will have a leading role in ensuring excellence and quality care for residents at the Caladenia Nursing Home and Dianella Hostel based at Kilmore District Hospital Campus.
The physiotherapist will be responsible for assessment of new residents, developing care plans, updating mobility assessments and reviewing residents as required.
The Grade 2 Physiotherapist will provide leadership and ensure high level, evidence based physiotherapy care as part of the team at Caladenia Nursing Home and Dianella Hostel.
The role includes the organisation, implementation, development and supervision of physiotherapy care and the promotion of best practice.
The physiotherapist will be responsible for assessment of new residents,
development of care plans, updating mobility assessments, reviewing residents as required (e.g. post falls) and running exercise groups.
The clinical caseload will vary depending on residents.
This position will have the opportunity to drive quality improvement to ensure we are meeting the Aged Care Quality Standards.
This role will be supported by the Grade 3 Physiotherapists in Kilmore thus there is the prospect to be upskilled in acute and subacute to provide occasional cover (if interested).
At times this role may be required to assist in the supervision of physiotherapy undergraduate students.
To be successful in this role you will have:
A background which includes significant clinical experience resulting in a high level of clinical skill in aged care, gerontology or general physiotherapy.
Experience managing patients/residents in aged care facilities or ward based settings
Well developed interpersonal skills
Well developed organisational and time management skills
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
Skills in negotiation and conflict resolution
Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence based practice
Competent computer skills particularly in Word Processing and Internet use, and the ability to learn dedicated software
