About the role
About the Role
RAPTOR GROUP is seeking an experienced
Heavy Diesel Mechanic
to join our team in a
locally based position
, working
Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 5:00pm
. This role is suited to someone looking for stable, full‐time local work with consistent hours and long‐term opportunity.
You will be based at our client's local site and be responsible for carrying out repairs, servicing, inspections, and scheduled maintenance on a broad range of heavy machinery and mobile plant. All work is to be completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This position offers the opportunity to work across diverse equipment while building a long-term career within a growing business.
Key responsibilities include:




Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance to promote equipment reliability, safety, and uptime.
Dismantle, inspect, and replace worn or faulty components including engines, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
Perform thorough testing, calibrations, and adjustments to ensure high-quality workmanship and compliance with standards.
Maintain accurate service records and parts usage documentation in line with company and client requirements.
Liaise directly with clients and operators to diagnose mechanical issues and provide clear, technical advice and support.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by contributing feedback to enhance maintenance procedures, tooling, and safety practices.
About You
Locally based in Karratha Western Australia.
Recognised trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology or Diesel Fitting (Cert III or equivalent).
Minimum
5 years' experience
as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, ideally within mining, civil, or heavy earthmoving environments.
RIO / Aveling Inductions (highly desirable).
High Risk Work License's – Forklift, Dogging, Rigging (highly desirable).
Air Conditioning License (highly desirable).




Scraper experience (highly desirable).
Clean National Police Clearance.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across heavy earthmoving equipment.
Sound mechanical knowledge with a proactive, hands-on approach.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Transparent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and WHS compliance.
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
Full Australian working rights.
Able to work
locally, Monday to Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm
