About Centrecare
Centrecare is a not‐for‐profit organisation with over 300 employees and is committed to delivering quality professional counselling, support, accommodation, mediation and training services in over 11 locations across the Perth Metro, Goldfields and Bunbury region.
The Service
Centrecare's Private Rental Advocacy Service provides short‐term to medium‐term (3‐6 months) support to clients who are in private rental accommodation and at risk of becoming homeless. Services include dealing with rental arrears, consultation and addressing the underlying causes of tenancy vulnerability.
The Role
The case worker will work with families and individuals experiencing domestic violence, drug and alcohol challenges, mental health issues, employment difficulties and tenancy responsibilities such as cleanliness and maintenance. The role involves linking clients to services that address employment, health, financial management and social integration to achieve long‐term, reliable housing.
A Few Specifics
Undertake assessments and informal counselling to improve and enhance clients' personal and social development, and their health and wellbeing.
Deliver therapeutic and skill development services including assessments, counselling, outreach, capacity building, information, and referral opportunities for clients.
Provide access to recreational opportunities for children and their families where possible and appropriate.
Establish relevant networks and links with the community and other service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
About You
Bachelor in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology or Counselling.
Minimum 2 years' experience in housing within a community services setting.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in outreach, homelessness,
individual/family support and/or case management.
Well‐developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to work within a team.
Computer literacy skills and the ability to collect statistical data related to service delivery.
Ability to work with a broad cross‐section of people to include business, other community‐based agencies, private real estate agents, government and different socio‐economic groups.
An understanding of strength‐based approaches to client services.
Current drivers' licence.
National Police Certificate (valid within 12 months).
Working with Children Card.
