Parnell's Barristers is seeking a capable, professional and highly reliable Communications Clerk to join our small and supportive team.
Based at Owen Dixon Chambers in Melbourne's legal precinct, we provide clerking and administrative support to approximately 120 barristers practising predominantly in criminal, administrative and public law.
This is an office-based position suited to someone who enjoys being part of a busy professional environment, communicates confidently and understands the importance of being dependable in a close-knit team.
The role
The position is varied, practical and communication-focused. Responsibilities will include:
answering incoming telephone calls as part of the wider team and directing enquiries appropriately;
communicating professionally with barristers, solicitors, courts and other stakeholders;
assisting barristers with general enquiries, document coordination and administrative matters;
scanning, printing and preparing documents and briefs;
arranging and completing deliveries to courts and barristers' chambers;
monitoring and responding to emails and other communications;
assisting with general office administration;
supporting the clerking and finance teams as required; and
helping ensure the office operates smoothly throughout the day.

Permanent full-time or part-time position
Office hours are 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday
Part-time days and hours may be negotiated with the successful candidate
Salary will be commensurate with experience and adjusted on a pro-rata basis for part time employment
Superannuation paid in addition to salary
This is an office-based position and is not a remote-working role.
Due to the responsive and practical nature of the work, the successful candidate must be available to work from our Melbourne office during their agreed hours. The role involves direct communication with barristers and solicitors, handling documents and coordinating deliveries to courts and barristers' chambers.
