Join the Conservation and Threatened Species Unit within the Department for Environment and Water and contribute to the development of contemporary environmental legislation and policy to improve biodiversity conservation in South Australia. This will require the review of existing environmental legislation and policy, undertaking research, analysis and stakeholder consultation activities and providing expert policy advice to support legislative reform and policy development initiatives.
This is a rare opportunity to contribute to meaningful regulatory change that will have lasting impacts on biodiversity, government policy, and community outcomes across the state.
The role outcomes include:
Current environmental legislation and associated regulatory and non-regulatory instruments are reviewed and analysed to identify issues, risks and opportunities for improvement.
Research, analysis and advice are provided to support the development and implementation of environmental legislation, regulations, policies and strategies.




Legislation and policy initiatives within a defined policy area is led, developed, implemented and reviewed.
A defined program of legislative reform work is led and managed, including planning, implementation and evaluation of activities to deliver outcomes against agreed timelines and corporate goals.
Briefing papers, reports, correspondence and high-level policy advice are prepared to support decision-making and legislative reform initiatives.
Stakeholder consultation processes are led and managed, with the role representing the department at community forums, interdepartmental meetings and other external engagements as required.
Environmental legislation, regulations, policies and strategies that improve outcomes for South Australia's biodiversity are developed and/or contributed to.
Policy frameworks, methodologies and legislative approaches are enhanced through identifying opportunities and driving continuous improvement.
