Solutions Architect - Software

Join a leading automation and technology business where you'll play a key role in designing and delivering innovative software solutions for complex warehouse and logistics environments. Working closely with customers, project teams and technical specialists, you'll translate business and operational requirements into practical, high-performing solutions that drive successful project outcomes.
This is a hands-on role that offers variety, ownership and the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design through to configuration, testing, commissioning, training and operational optimisation. You'll collaborate with customers, internal engineering teams and third-party vendors to ensure solutions are delivered to the highest standards of quality, performance and customer satisfaction.
As a Solutions Architect – Software, you'll be a trusted technical advisor, contributing to project success, continuous improvement initiatives and the development of implementation standards and best practices across the business. This role is ideal for a proactive, customer-focused professional who enjoys solving complex challenges and making a tangible impact on automated operations.
Additional Role Requirements
Regular travel across Australia, New Zealand and occasionally internationally to support project delivery, commissioning and collaboration with customers and global teams.
Work within office, warehouse and live operational environments.
Flexibility to work outside standard business hours during testing, commissioning, system go-lives and critical project milestones.
Key Accountabilities
Solution Design, Requirements & Configuration
The Solutions Architect is responsible for translating customer requirements into integrated software solutions that support efficient warehouse operations and align with SSI SCHAEFER engineering standards.
Analyse customer operational, business and technical requirements and translate these into software solution designs.
Configure, model and parameterise WAMAS, SSI SCHAEFER's warehouse management and automation software platform, in accordance with approved functional requirements.
Develop SQL queries and perform data analysis to support solution validation and system optimisation.
Prepare functional specifications, interface documentation and configuration documentation.
Design, test and validate interfaces between WAMAS, customer systems and third-party applications.
Collaborate with Software, Controls and Project teams to deliver integrated customer solutions.
Testing, Quality Assurance & Documentation




The Solutions Architect drives software quality throughout the project lifecycle through the planning, execution and documentation of testing activities.
Plan and execute software testing in collaboration with Quality Assurance teams.
Validate software functionality against customer requirements and functional specifications.
Analyse and resolve defects during testing and commissioning activities.
Maintain testing, technical and project documentation.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and software quality processes.
Commissioning, Customer Training & Project Delivery
The Solutions Architect is accountable for the successful implementation and commissioning of software solutions.
Commission software solutions remotely and on customer sites.
Lead system start-up, operational ramp-up and go-live activities.
Deliver customer training and operational documentation.
Enable customers to effectively operate and maintain WAMAS solutions.
Deliver assigned project outcomes in accordance with agreed quality, schedule and budget objectives.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
The Solutions Architect contributes to the ongoing development of technical capability and engineering excellence across the business.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams and software engineering colleagues.
Mentor team members and share technical knowledge across the organisation.
Contribute to the development of engineering standards, methodologies and best practices.
Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful customer outcomes.
What You'll Bring
Minimum 3–5 years' experience delivering software solutions within warehouse automation, intralogistics or comparable industrial automation environments.
Experience gathering, analysing and documenting business, operational and functional requirements.
Experience designing, configuring and implementing software solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience integrating Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) with ERP systems, Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), PLCs and third-party applications.
Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and operational ramp-up activities.
Experience working directly with customers to develop, validate and implement software solutions.
Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering project teams.




Experience with WAMAS or a comparable Tier 1 Warehouse Management System is desirable.
Experience with automated warehouse technologies such as ASRS, conveyors, shuttle systems, robotics or similar automation solutions is desirable.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Degree qualification in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Logistics or a related discipline.
Experience in software configuration, testing, system integration and solution delivery.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Current Australian Driver's Licence.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Project management certification (IPMA, PMI, PRINCE2 or equivalent) is desirable.
Construction Induction Card (White Card) is desirable.
