Job Description
GSM GROUP OF COMPANIES PTY LTD Adelaide Autoworks & Crash is seeking a skilled and motivated Motor Mechanic to join our growing workshop in SA ****.
The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of light motor vehicles.
The successful candidate should have experience operating a tyre changer, wheel balancing machine, and wheel alignment machine, as these services form an important part of our workshop operations.
This role is ideal for a qualified mechanic who enjoys solving mechanical problems, delivering quality workmanship and working within a collaborative team environment.

Task & responsibilities Inspect, diagnose and identify mechanical faults in petrol engines and associated vehicle systems using diagnostic equipment and industry-standard testing procedures.
Remove, dismantle and examine engines, transmissions, steering assemblies, suspension components, braking systems and other mechanical parts to determine repair requirements.
Repair or replace worn,
damaged or defective components and accurately reassemble mechanical systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups and fluid replacements to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
Rebuild engines and mechanical assemblies following repairs while maintaining quality and reliability standards.
Test, adjust and fine-tune repaired components to ensure safe operation, efficiency and compliance with manufacturer requirements.
Operate computer-based diagnostic equipment to assess vehicle performance, identify faults and verify successful repairs.
Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and recommend repairs required to maintain roadworthiness and reliability.
Maintain accurate service records and complete repair documentation where required.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with workplace health and safety procedures, environmental requirements and company quality standards.
Maintain workshop equipment, tools and work areas in a clean, organised and safe condition.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and management to achieve efficient workflow and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Perform tyre fitting, tyre changing, wheel balancing and wheel alignment services using specialised workshop equipment,
ensuring all work is completed accurately, safely and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
Qualification & experience 1–3 years of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic is essential.
A completed relevant qualification in Automotive Mechanical Technology or an equivalent trade qualification is required.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities across a range of light motor vehicles.
Sound knowledge of petrol engines, transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems.
Experience using modern automotive diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to workplace health and safety practices.
Registration or licensing may be required where applicable.
Must have hands-on experience operating tyre changing, wheel balancing and wheel alignment equipment.
