The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Officer, Logisticsto provide a critical role at Emergency Management Victoria.
About the Business Unit
Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, is responsible for the overall coordination of the emergency management system in Victoria.
EMV drives the integration of policy, strategy, operational coordination, sector specific technology, and planning across Victoria's emergency management sector, contributing to safer, more resilient communities.
EMV works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio.
The organisation is led by the Deputy Secretary & Chief Executive, and Emergency Management Commissioner, and includes oversight of statutory entities and offices and the department's emergency management accountabilities.
EMV has legislative responsibility for managing the State Control Centre (SCC), Victoria's primary control centre for managing emergencies.
It comprises a Watch Desk, which provides a base service and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and stewardship teams that are functionally aligned to the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS) framework and principles.
Stewardship teams focus on sector-wide governance, coordination and engagement, capability building, strategic planning and continuous improvement.




They also support internal SCC business and provide core operational support to the SCC, as needed.
The Logistics and Facilities team maintains stewardship of the Logistics and Finance functions for state, region and incident tiers and manages SCC logistics, assets and facilities, and finances.
About the Role
Some of your duties will include:
* Coordinate the physical deployment of resources (as required), sourcing items of supply and consumables to incidents by various transport modes.
* Support stewardship of the operational logistics function ensuring that all the requirements of the EMC are met in a timely, professional, and efficient manner
* Support the Manager, Logistics and Facilities in providing oversight of procurement processes and the financial requirements associated with emergency management activities.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Knowledge of state-wide arrangements and procedures for the logistical movement of resources, facilities, material, and services is highly desirable.
* Prior experience in logistics.
* Application of logistics in a major emergency context would be advantageous.




* Adept in procurement processes and public financial management.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and proficient in relevant financial management systems (e.g. Oracle) and other relevant government and emergency management systems.
Qualifications/requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field would be desirable.
