Azure Databricks Architect
We are seeking a seasoned Databricks Architect with ***** years of experience to join our team in a hybrid work model.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Databricks technologies, including Unity Catalog, SQL, Workflows, CLI, and PySpark.
This role focuses on designing and implementing scalable data solutions that enhance business operations and enable data‐driven decision‐making.
Experience supporting Store Operations and Merchandising is a plus.
In this role, you will:
Design and implement scalable data solutions using Databricks technologies to optimize business processes and outcomes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Develop and maintain data pipelines using Databricks Workflows and PySpark to ensure productive data processing.
Utilize Databricks SQL to perform complex data analysis and generate actionable insights for stakeholders.
Ensure data governance and security by implementing Databricks Unity Catalog for data cataloging and lineage tracking.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members in the use of Databricks CLI for efficient data management.
Oversee the integration of data solutions with existing systems to ensure seamless operations and data flow.
Conduct regular performance tuning and optimization of data solutions to enhance system efficiency.
Collaborate with business units to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions that drive business value.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in Databricks technologies and incorporate them into existing solutions.
Document all data solutions and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity within the team.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of data architecture practices and standards within the organization.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON.

What you need to have to be considered
Possess extensive experience with Databricks CLI Unity Catalog SQL Workflows and PySpark.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design innovative data solutions.
Have a solid understanding of data governance and security best practices.
Experience in Store Operations and Merchandising is highly desirable.
Exhibit excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Show proficiency in developing and maintaining data pipelines for large-scale data processing.
Display a proactive approach to learning and implementing new technologies.
Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between CAD 79,000 – CAD 125,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
