The About Our client is a well-established Western Australian manufacturer and refurbishment specialist within the heavy transport industry.
With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality semi-trailer solutions, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Draftsperson to provide short-term support across new-build, manufacturing and major refurbishment projects.
The primary role is to provide accurate, practical and manufacturing-ready drafting support, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
The Opportunity This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineering and workshop teams on a variety of semi-trailer projects.
This is a short-term casual assignment for approximately 4–6 weeks , providing immediate support during a busy period across new-build, manufacturing and refurbishment projects.
You will play a key role in transforming engineering concepts into detailed technical drawings that support secure, compliant and high-quality manufacturing outcomes.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Mechanical Design Draftsperson who can quickly adapt, work autonomously and deliver accurate drafting solutions within project timeframes.
The Tasks Ahead: Prepare, revise and maintain accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
Convert engineering concepts, sketches and technical information into detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
Review and update existing drawings for new-build and major refurbishment projects.
Incorporate approved design changes, engineering input and workshop feedback into technical drawings.
Collaborate with engineering,
workshop and operational teams to clarify technical requirements and support project delivery.
Identify drawing discrepancies, design conflicts and missing technical information, escalating where required.
Maintain drawing registers, revision control and design documentation in line with quality assurance requirements.
Ensure drawings align with relevant Australian standards, safety requirements and project specifications.
Deliver drafting work in accordance with project priorities and agreed deadlines.
About You You are a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Design Draftsperson who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You have a strong understanding of drafting principles, fabrication processes and technical documentation, and can confidently work both independently and collaboratively to achieve project outcomes.

Key Requirements Qualification in Engineering Drafting, Mechanical Design or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum three years' experience in mechanical design drafting within manufacturing, fabrication, heavy vehicle, transport equipment or similar industries.
Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software.
Experience using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, or the ability to quickly adapt to a nominated CAD system.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, technical specifications and design documentation.
Practical understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
Robust attention to detail with excellent document control and revision management skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work within tight timeframes.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering and workshop personnel.
Knowledge of Australian Design Rules (ADR), NHVAS requirements or heavy vehicle standards is highly regarded.
Previous experience working with semi-trailers, heavy vehicle equipment or vehicle body building is highly desirable.
