Applicants will join a dynamic, ambitious Australian business with a strong connection to the riding community.Role Description The Apparel Designer will need to be avalible to sometimes be in Geelong, but in a part time flexible capacity, collaborating closely with the VALA team to design and develop equestrian apparel collections.
Day-to-day responsibilities include creating garment concepts, sketching designs, selecting fabrics and trims, and ensuring alignment with VALA's brand identity and performance standards.
The role involves preparing technical specifications, working with manufacturers and suppliers, and supporting the sampling and fit process to achieve high-quality, comfortable, and stylish products.




The Apparel Designer will also contribute to trend research, market analysis, and continuous improvement of existing styles based on rider feedback and brand objectives.Qualifications Demonstrated apparel or fashion design experience, preferably in performance or sportswear; strong portfolio showcasing garment design and construction.Proficiency with design and technical tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and pattern or CAD software.Solid understanding of fabrics, materials, trims, and garment construction suitable for performance and lifestyle apparel.Ability to conduct trend, market, and competitor research and translate insights into commercially viable designs.Robust attention to detail, fit, and function, with experience in developing technical packs and working with manufacturers or suppliers.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work on-site in a small, fast-moving team environment.Relevant qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field is preferred.Interest or experience in equestrian sports or activewear design is an advantage, along with a strong alignment to VALA's focus on performance, comfort, and style.
