Graduate Design Engineer
It is anticipated that applicants for Graduate Design Engineering positions will have graduated in the past 12 months or expected to graduate in the coming 12 months with higher level tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering or a similar discipline.
Along with some technical design experience in a commercial R&D; environment, ideal applicants will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; robust IT skills and good mechanical aptitude if an Electronics Engineer and good electronics aptitude if a Mechanical Engineer.
You must be a strong team player and will be comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the role of Graduate Design Engineer involves:
Participation in concept generation "brainstorming" sessions and assistance in generating concepts to meet system requirement specifications
Generating design concepts and capturing intellectual property;
3D CAD modelling of parts and assemblies of complex systems using CAD and FEA tools or Altium and KiCAD for electronics.
Detailed design, including generation of manufacturing drawings or PCB design, embedded micro controller and software development.
Analysis and design activities to support the design process
Designing and conducting research and testing to support the design and development process
Assembly, set to work and testing of prototypes
Liaison with manufacturers to assist in getting designs ready for production
Assisting in the preparation of technical reports for consulting projects such as design reviews, failure investigations, stress analysis, concept design & feasibility studies.
