The Opportunity
This role is ideal for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys practical design, problem solving and working closely with both office-based and workshop-based teams.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting mechanical components and assemblies for specialised equipment used in heavy fabrication, manufacturing and mining-related applications.
The Mechanical Engineer will work within a practical engineering team to design, develop and support mechanical components and assemblies for specialised equipment used in heavy fabrication, manufacturing and mining-related applications.
The role will suit someone who can turn project requirements into clear drawings, specifications and practical engineering solutions that support fabrication, assembly, testing and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Prepare mechanical designs, drawings and specifications using CAD software.
Develop practical engineering solutions for heavy fabrication and mechanical assembly projects.
Review and improve existing designs for performance, reliability and manufacturability.
Support project managers, workshop supervisors and production teams with technical input.
Participate in design reviews, technical meetings and client discussions as required.
Provide engineering support during fabrication, assembly,



testing and commissioning support.
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, specifications, safety and quality requirements.
Assist with material certifications, inspection documentation, test reports and technical records.
Investigate design-related issues and support corrective actions.
Maintain accurate design records, project documentation and engineering change notices.
About You
You will be a practical, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer who enjoys solving technical problems and turning engineering requirements into workable designs.
You will be organised, proactive and able to manage your design tasks, priorities and project deliverables with limited supervision.
You will also be comfortable working with project managers, workshop personnel, suppliers and clients to ensure engineering work supports practical fabrication, assembly and delivery outcomes.
You will have the confidence to ask questions early, identify design or manufacturing risks and follow through on actions properly.
Required Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will ideally come from a heavy fabrication, manufacturing, mining, mechanical equipment or industrial engineering environment, with strong practical mechanical design capability.
You will also bring:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience in heavy fabrication, manufacturing or mechanical assembly environments.
Proficiency with Inventor CAD software or AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar.
Ability to prepare and interpret drawings, specifications and technical documents.
Understanding of mechanical equipment, fabrication, materials and assembly methods.
Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards,



safety and quality requirements.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Clear communication with engineers, project teams, workshop personnel and clients.
Highly Regarded Experience
Mining, mineral processing, thermal processing, OEM equipment or custom-engineered equipment.
Design of fabricated structures, mechanical assemblies, guards, frames, platforms or materials handling equipment.
Experience with heavy fabrication, welding, rotating equipment, drives, bearings, couplings or mechanical components.
Familiarity with inspection documentation, material certificates, test reports and quality records.
Experience supporting workshop fabrication, assembly, testing or commissioning activities.
Knowledge of manufacturability, cost reduction and continuous improvement in an engineering environment.
Experience preparing engineering reports, feasibility studies or technical specifications.
