About the OpportunityJoin the SSN AUKUS Build Program as a Technical Author - Build Readiness, where you'll create, coordinate, and maintain high-quality technical documentation to support Operations and Manufacturing Engineering.
You'll work closely with subject matter experts, engineers, planners, and UK-based counterparts to develop documentation that supports build sequencing, work instructions, and operational procedures.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain technical documentation to support production and build readinessCollaborate with SMEs and engineers to gather and validate technical contentEnsure documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with engineering and production requirementsWork with planners and UK-based counterparts to support build sequencing and manufacturing readinessEnsure documentation complies with program standards and version control protocolsContribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes and tools
Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required.




Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.
About YouProven experience in technical writing or authoring within a complex engineering or manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of engineering and production documentation standardsAbility to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering dataProficiency in document management systems and authoring tools (e.g. Adobe FrameMaker, MS Word, XML-based tools)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple documentation streams
DesirableExperience in Defence, shipbuilding, or submarine programsFamiliarity with UK and/or Australian naval documentation standardsExperience working in a joint venture or multi-national program environmentKnowledge of configuration management and version control practices
EligibilityThis role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level.
Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
