Role SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of heavy industrial engineering projects within a major manufacturing environment.
This role is a backfill for a departing senior engineer and requires someone who can quickly step into a hands-on technical position with minimal supervision.
You will lead mechanical design activities across a variety of projects spanning feasibility, concept development, detailed design, reverse engineering, and brownfield plant upgrades, while working closely with project and operational stakeholders.
Projects include equipment upgrades, structural modifications, plant relocations, reverse engineering, and heavy industrial asset improvements.

ResponsibilitiesDeliver mechanical engineering design across multiple heavy industrial projects.Develop concept, feasibility, and detailed engineering solutions for plant and equipment upgrades.Design and review mechanical equipment, fabrication, rotating equipment,



and materials handling systems.Provide mechanical and structural engineering input across multidisciplinary projects.Perform reverse engineering of existing plant equipment and develop replacement designs.Support brownfield plant modifications, relocations, and capital improvement initiatives.Produce and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.Liaise with operations, maintenance, project teams, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.Provide technical guidance throughout project delivery, commissioning, and implementation.Work independently while supporting multiple concurrent engineering projects.
Skills & ExperienceExtensive experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer within heavy industrial environments.Strong hands-on mechanical design capability across industrial plant and equipment.Experience with mechanical and structural engineering on capital or sustaining projects.Proven ability to independently deliver engineering solutions from concept through to implementation.Experience with heavy manufacturing, steel, mining, processing, or similar industrial environments.Strong understanding of fabrication, rotating equipment, piping, structural interfaces, and materials handling systems.Excellent problem-solving, technical leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.Experience supporting brownfield plant modifications and operational environments.
Highly RegardedPrevious experience working within steel manufacturing environments.Experience with feasibility studies, concept engineering, and plant optimisation projects.Chartered status or relevant engineering qualifications.
