Casual Chef or Experienced Cook

Helen's Hill is looking for a capable and motivated casual Chef or experienced Cook to join our bistro kitchen team in Coldstream, in the heart of the Yarra Valley.
We have recently completed a major kitchen upgrade and launched an exciting new bistro menu.
This is a strong opportunity to join a busy winery kitchen, work with quality local produce and contribute ideas as the menu continues to develop.
About the role
This is a casual position offering approximately 16 to 20 hours per week.
The majority of shifts will be on weekends, with additional weekday work available for the right candidate.
There are no night shifts, making this a great role for someone looking for consistent hospitality hours without late finishes.
You will work across a range of kitchen stations, assist with mise en place and service, and help maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.
What you will be doing
Preparing and cooking dishes across multiple kitchen stations
Completing mise en place to a high and consistent standard
Supporting smooth service during busy weekend periods
Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and kitchen organisation
Working collaboratively with the Head Chef and broader kitchen team
Contributing ideas and creative input into menu development
Assisting with stock rotation, preparation and general kitchen operations




About you
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience as a Chef, Cook or experienced kitchen professional
Is confident with mise en place and working across multiple stations
Can remain organised and composed during busy service periods
Takes pride in presentation, consistency and food quality
Works well within a collaborative team environment
Is reliable, positive and willing to contribute
Is available to work weekends
Has their own reliable transport, as public transport options are limited
A formal cookery qualification is desirable but not essential for applicants with strong practical kitchen experience.
