As a Small Engine Mechanic, Your Duties Include
Detect and diagnose faults in engines and parts using manual and computer‐assisted methods
Dismantle, inspect and reassemble engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components
Repair or replace worn or defective parts; refer to service manuals as required
Perform scheduled maintenance services (oil changes, lubrications, tune‐ups) to ensure smooth operation and compliance with pollution regulations




Test and adjust mechanical components post‐repair to verify proper performance
Inspect equipment and issue roadworthiness certificates or provide detailed guidance to achieve compliance
AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on‐the‐job training, or Certificate IV, OR a minimum of three years' relevant industry experience in lieu of formal qualifications
Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and repairing small petrol and battery‐powered engines (e.g. lawn mowers, ride‐on, trimmers, brushcutters, chainsaws)
Ability to read technical service manuals and use diagnostic tools and computer‐assisted systems
Solid attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high rates of efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction
Excellent communication skills and a customer‐focused approach, reflecting the company's dedication to personalised service
