Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience – Graduate $86,600, Proficient 4 $107,988 FTE Gross per annum, plus applicable Middle Leader Tier 2 allowance $13,026 p.a. Proficient 5 and above: $137,750 FTE Gross per annum

MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter
MacKillop Catholic College, a master‐planned Prep to Year 12 College located in the growing southern corridor of Cairns, was established in **** with Prep–Year 3 classes. The College has developed progressively, adding additional year levels annually, and commenced secondary education in **** with Year 7, and the first Year 12 cohort graduated in ****. Guided by the authentic discipleship of Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross and the Josephite tradition, the mission is to inspire hearts, minds and spirits, grounded in the vision to provide quality 21st‐century education to the young people in our community.
About the Role
The position of Leader – Head of Religious Education and Encounter (Years 7‐12) acknowledges the important and distinctive place of Religious Education and faith formation within Catholic schools.
The Leader – Head of Religious Education and Encounter provides leadership in Religious Education, including the teaching of Religion, according to Cairns Catholic Education policies, practices and QCAA requirements. The role holder works as part of a collaborative team to promote our Catholic culture and faith formation of staff. The role holder also facilitates and supports student engagement in Religion and outreach.




The Leader – Head of Religious Education and Encounter also supports and assists the Deputy Principal – Identity and Outreach in providing formation and service opportunities for staff, students and parents including: secondary assembly prayer, department prayers, student home‐form prayers and fostering a connection with the Edmonton Parish.
Middle Leaders are accountable to and under the direction of the College Principal.
Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements
Formal qualifications at Degree level in Education
Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers
Leadership experience:
Demonstrated ability in educational leadership
Demonstrated administrative ability
Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships
Willingness to achieve Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School and Accreditation to Teach Religion in a Catholic School (Teachers of Religious Education)
Willingness to support and participate in the prayer, liturgy and sacramental life of the Church in the school community
Capacity to understand and implement Duty of Care and Workplace Health and Safety requirements
Current driver's licence
Strong demonstrated commitment to the objectives, vision, and ethos of Catholic Education
Promote child safety at all times
Work Requirements
