This is an exciting opportunity to support participants with complex mental health needs and behaviours of concern, while making a genuine difference in their lives.
This role is best suited to professionals who remain calm under pressure, have excellent communication skills, and are committed to delivering person-centred, trauma-informed support.
About the Role
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide high-quality support to NDIS participants with complex psychosocial disabilities and behaviours of concern.
You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families and other stakeholders to implement behaviour support strategies and promote participant independence, safety and wellbeing.
This position operates on a1 week on, 1 week off roster, providing continuity of support for participants.
Key Responsibilities
Provide person-centred support in accordance with individual support plans.
Implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans and risk management strategies.
Support participants with emotional regulation and crisis situations using de-escalation techniques.
Assist with activities of daily living, community participation and skill development.
Maintain professional boundaries while building therapeutic relationships.
Complete accurate shift notes, incident reports and documentation.
Administer medication (where appropriately trained and authorised).
Work collaboratively with clinical teams, guardians, families and allied health professionals.
Promote participant choice, dignity, rights and independence at all times.
Essential Requirements
Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health, Disability, Community Services or equivalent (or relevant experience).
Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with complex mental health conditions and behaviours of concern.




Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain if required).
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Manual Handling Certificate.
Medication Administration competency.
Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence.
Ability to obtain National Police Clearance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
Mental Health First Aid qualification.
Experience supporting participants with forensic mental health backgrounds.
Experience working with trauma-informed practice.
Restrictive Practices training.
MAPA, PART or equivalent de-escalation training.
Nursing or allied health background will be highly regarded.
