We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Residential Construction Estimator to join our Tropical Homes team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast‐paced environment, has a strong understanding of residential construction, and takes pride in delivering accurate and efficient estimating services.
About the Role
As our Estimator, you'll play a critical role in ensuring building projects are accurately costed and prepared for construction. Working closely with Construction Managers, Site Supervisors, suppliers and subcontractors, you'll be responsible for preparing bills of quantities, purchase orders and contract documentation to support the successful delivery of our homes.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate material and labour take-offs.
Produce Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and complete associated data entry.
Generate, review and distribute purchase orders.
Review building contracts and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
Apply colour selections, inclusions, PC items, delivery dates and supplier quotations to BOQs.
Coordinate contract documentation with suppliers for pricing where required.
Prepare comprehensive contract packages for Site Managers and Supervisors.
Manage contract adjustments, variations and final account calculations.




Maintain and update pricing databases and central price files.
Provide estimating and contract support to Site Supervisors throughout the construction process.
Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality of contract information.
Build strong working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience in residential construction estimating or a similar role.
Strong understanding of residential building contracts and construction processes.
Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced computer literacy and confidence using estimating and Microsoft Office software.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Solid problem‐solving ability and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Essential Requirements
Relevant residential construction industry experience.
Current Class C Driver's Licence.
Working Environment
This position is primarily office‐based, with occasional site visits where exposure to heat, dust, uneven ground and construction noise may occur.
