Health Information Service Officer

About the role:
Northpark and La Trobe Private Hospitals are seeking to recruit two Health Information Service Officers in a Casual capacity.
You will be working within the Health Information Services (HIS) Department/s of either hospital, supporting the functions of the clinical coding team and wider hospital environment. You will report to the Health Information Manager.

Northpark and La Trobe Private Hospitals are located within the northern suburbs of Melbourne in the leafy suburb of Bundoora, 4km apart from each other. The hospitals work closely with each other to provide high-quality care to our community and those in surrounding areas.
Our surgical specialties include ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Plastics, Oral and Maxillofacial. Northpark houses a Maternity and Early Parenting Unit to support new families in their next chapter, alongside a dedicated Mental Health team comprised of our Adult Psychiatric Units (1&2), Older Persons Unit and Day Program area, facilitating both inpatient and outpatient ECT, TMS and various day programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Retrieve, track, deliver and archive paper medical records in and around the hospital
Maintain flexibility to undertake training in comparable administrative roles and provide support across hospital departments as required




Prepare medical records for coding by retrieving pathology results or any required documentation from required stakeholders
Effectively use WebPAS and other relevant digital programs to facilitate daily activities and maintain data integrity
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders whilst adhering to relevant privacy and confidentiality requirements
Support management with Release of Information (ROI) and/or Medicolegal requests
If you enjoy being organised and attentive to detail, working both independently and in a team, and are confident communicating with various stakeholders, you may be best suited to the role.

Strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders
Have a thorough understanding of National and State Privacy obligations and legislations or be willing to learn
Have excellent computer literacy and experience in using WebPAS or other specialised computer-based systems
Be able to appropriately manage varying tasks in a timely manner and can multi-task effectively
Previous hospital administration experience is preferred but not required.
