Electrical Superintendent
Vysarn Limited is a vertically integrated whole of life water and environmental services provider. The Vysarn group of companies and services has now grown to seven operating entities including Pentium Hydro and Pentium Test Pumping.
Pentium Hydro delivers hydrogeological drilling and dewatering services to long-term Tier 1 mining companies.
Pentium Test Pumping is dedicated to the Australian groundwater industry and strives to provide robust, valid, and statistically meaningful groundwater data by providing clients with tailor-made test pumping solutions.
About the role
The Electrical Superintendent oversees all electrical maintenance, operations, and project activities across all assets, ensuring protected, reliable, and compliant performance. This role leads the electrical team, manages contractors, and coordinates with other departments to deliver high-quality outcomes.
The Electrical Superintendent also drives continuous improvement, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports commissioning, upgrades, and shutdowns.
Key Responsibilities
Occupational Health & Safety:
Champion and promote a strong electrical safety culture across site.
Ensure all electrical work complies with safety standards and regulations.
Coordinate and participate in safety training, induction, and statutory testing.
Report hazards, incidents, and near misses; maintain a safe system of work.
Conduct and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and risk assessments.
Electrical Operations & Compliance:
Oversee preventative and reactive electrical maintenance for HV/LV systems, generators, pumps, VSDs, PLCs, and instrumentation.
Ensure compliance with procedures, manufacturer instructions, and statutory requirements.
Operate and maintain CMMS (e.g., MEX, Safety Culture), ensuring accurate records and reporting.
Respond urgently to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and implement cost-effective repairs.
Conduct regular inspections, audits, and condition-based monitoring of electrical equipment.
Manage maintenance work orders for timely completion and closure.
Oversee inventory management of critical electrical spares and coordinate logistics.
Lead commissioning, upgrades, and shutdowns of electrical assets.
Complete and review breakdown reports and root cause analyses, implementing corrective actions.
Ensure statutory compliance, including HV switching, isolation, and permitting systems.
Project & Contractor Management:
Lead electrical projects, shutdowns, and upgrades.
Manage electrical contractor performance and ensure adherence to company standards.
Ensure contractors meet contractual agreements, KPIs, quality, and safety requirements.
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
Drive adherence to the weekly maintenance schedule to complete preventive maintenance safely and efficiently.
Plan, manage, and supervise daily work tasks and allocate resources effectively.
Technical Leadership & Team Development:
Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Develop and implement succession and development plans to promote a high-performance team culture.
Conduct on-the-job apprentice coaching as required.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Engage and influence key stakeholders to achieve strategic and operational objectives.
Provide technical support and advice to internal and external clients.
Report regularly on electrical activities, issues, and improvements to the Head of Assets and stakeholders.
About you, your skills and experience
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Electrical trade qualification (Australian recognised).
Electrical Grade A License.
Electrical Contractors' license
High Voltage Switching Certificate.
Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), CMMS systems (e.g., MEX).
Understanding of HV/LV systems, PLCs, VSDs, instrumentation, and control systems.
Highly organised, able to work under pressure, and provide flexible support.
Desirable:
5+ years' experience in electrical maintenance or associated industry.
Accredited certification in supervision/frontline management.
Relevant trade qualifications and licenses.
Valid manual Australian driver's license (HR/MC/HC/C Class minimum).
High Risk Forklift License (LF).
Ability to obtain a satisfactory National Police Clearance.
Experience in mining, heavy industry, or large-scale operations.
Section 26 Statutory Supervisor Qualification.
Hazardous area and instrumentation experience.
Work Ready Requirements:
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment and ongoing assessments to meet the requirements of the role.
Working at heights
Able and willing to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime and weekend, as required.
Exposure to dust and heat working environments (managed according to safety protocols).
Drug and alcohol testing, as required.
Willing to work onsite which may include Perth-based and remote locations that require extended travel.
