About the role
:
0.8FTE - Tuesday to Friday.
As a Youth Health Worker with The Link Youth Health Service, you'll work alongside young people aged ***** to support their health, wellbeing and goals through brief interventions, health education, community engagement, and the operation of a safe, welcoming drop-in space. Working from a strengths-based and harm-reduction approach, you'll build trusted relationships with young people, provide early intervention support, and help connect them with services and opportunities that improve their health, safety, education, and overall wellbeing.
You'll join a passionate and collaborative team committed to creating inclusive, youth-friendly environments where young people feel heard, supported, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
What you'll be doing:
Supporting young people to achieve their goals through brief interventions, advocacy, referrals, and practical support.
Creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming drop-in space where young people feel respected, connected, and supported.
Delivering health promotion initiatives, workshops, and activities that empower young people to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
Building strong partnerships with schools, community groups, health providers, and other services to improve pathways and access to support.
Representing The Link Youth Health Service within the community and promoting positive health outcomes for young people.
Contributing to the development, delivery, and evaluation of cutting-edge youth health programs and projects.
Maintaining quality documentation, reporting, and risk management practices while working collaboratively within a passionate and supportive team.
What we're looking for:
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
Experience working with young people in a youth, health, community services,
or wellbeing setting.
A demonstrated ability to provide strengths-based support and brief interventions, including assessment, goal setting, advocacy, referrals, and care coordination.
A strong understanding of youth health issues, including mental health, alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, healthy relationships, and general wellbeing.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and build trust with diverse young people, including those experiencing vulnerability.
A commitment to harm reduction, child safety, ethical practice, cultural safety, and youth-centred service delivery.
Strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Essential Requirements:
A Diploma in Community Services, Youth Work, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience and qualifications).
Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
Current Driver Licence.
Eligibility to work in Australia.
