Role DetailsThe Department for Child Protection (DCP) is seeking a Senior Social Worker or Senior Professional Officer to work in our Keswick office, as a Senior Disability Consultant.
Reporting to the Lead Disability Consultant, you will support DCP case workers to identify children and young people with disability and provide professional guidance in navigating the National Disability Insurance Agency.
This role offers the opportunity to apply your specialist disability expertise in a role that combines meaningful case consultation with broader service improvement. You will help build the capability of DCP staff, contribute to policy and service development and drive culturally responsive, inclusive practice that strengthens disability-informed decision-making across the department.
Essential Qualification:For the AHP stream - an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification in either Social Work, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or Developmental Education which entitles registration or membership with the relevant board or associationFor the PO stream - an appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification,
may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Skilled roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection.
In this role, you will:• Provide specialist guidance to case workers to support children and young people with disability or a developmental delay• Facilitate collaboration to improve access to appropriate services and supports• Build capability across the department through mentoring, training and consultation• Apply current disability knowledge to inform practice, decision-making and service delivery• Contribute to service improvement initiatives that promote inclusive, culturally responsive practice.
About you:• You bring extensive experience supporting children and young people with disability and diverse developmental needs• You apply specialist disability knowledge and understand relevant policies, procedures and practice standards• You provide trusted advice to colleagues, building capability and strengthening disability-informed practice• You use strong communication and problem-solving skills to respond to complex needs and achieve positive outcomes• You champion culturally responsive, person-centred practice.

Salary:AHP2: $94,997 – $110,052 p.a.
+ 12% super+4% child protection allowance+Professional Development Allowance - entitlement to claim reimbursement of eligible professional development expenses +Qualification Allowance may apply if you hold an additional qualification relevant to the role.
PO2: $94,769 – $109,787 p.a. + 12% super+additional child protection allowance.
