Based in our Blacktown office, this role provides operational leadership across services located throughout Greater Sydney (Western Sydney and South West Sydney).This is an exciting chance for an experienced leader who enjoys supporting people, driving operational excellence and ensuring children and young people receive high-quality therapeutic care.
About the Role
The Area Manager is responsible tooversee the day-to-day operations of multiple residential care services, ensuring they operate safely, effectively and in line with legislative, contractual and accreditation requirements.Working closely with House Managers, Team Leaders, Casework and Youth Work staff, Senior Therapeutic Specialists and key external stakeholders, you will provide leadership that supports consistent, high-quality care across all three program streams.You will be someone who enjoys balancing operational leadership with developing people, building relationships and continuously improving service delivery.
Primary accountabilities of the role of Area Manager include, but are not limited to:
Lead, coach and support House Managers, Team Leaders and Casework/Youth Work staff across ITM, TCH and ITC services.
Drive a positive, accountable and high-performing team culture.
Ensure appropriate workforce planning and staffing to meet operational requirements,



including ITM's 1:1 support model.
Promote the integration of the ARC (Attachment, Regulation and Competency) Framework and therapeutic practice across all services.
Ensure compliance with legislation, organisational policies, funding requirements and accreditation standards.
Oversee the quality and timeliness of case documentation, including Case Plans, Therapeutic Care Plans, Permanency Plans and Incident Reports.
Monitor operational performance, service quality and program budgets.
Conduct supervision, performance management and professional development of direct reports.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with DCJ, NSW Health, Police, Education, Community Visitors and other key stakeholders.
Work collaboratively with Senior Therapeutic Specialists to ensure therapeutic plans and risk management strategies are effectively implemented.
Support smooth transitions for children and young people between ITM, TCH and ITC programs when appropriate.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
Qualifications:
A relevant Bachelor's degree(Social Work, Psychology or equivalent)
Experience & Skills:
At least 3-5 years' management or leadership experience within Out of Home Care, Child Protection or Community Services.
Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams across residential or therapeutic care settings.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic care models.
Excellent leadership, coaching and performance management skills.
Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.




Experience managing operational budgets and service compliance.
High level computer and reporting skills.
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Current NSW Working with Children Check.
National Criminal History Check.
Unrestricted NSW Driver Licence (minimum P2).
Ability to undertake regular travel across Greater Sydney.
Willingness to complete verification through the Residential Care Workers Register managed by the Office of the Children's Guardian.
