The DCCEEW Audit and Ethics team is seeking a highly organised and proactive Secretariat Officer to play an important governance role supporting the Department and its entities. This role provides high-level secretariat, governance and administrative support for key departmental meetings and committees, including the Audit and Risk Committee, helping to strengthen accountability, transparency and effective decision-making across DCCEEW. You will work closely with senior executives, committee Chairs and members to support the smooth and skilled operation of committee processes, including the preparation of agendas, minutes, correspondence, briefing materials, records and timely reporting on audit and ethics activities.
As a key point of coordination, you will build and maintain effective relationships with senior executives, committee members, internal teams, external stakeholders and service providers to support the flow of accurate, timely and trusted information. Working with the Manager Strategic Audit Services, the Director Audit and Ethics and other governance stakeholders, you will help ensure secretariat milestones are delivered to a high standard and in line with established protocols. This role also supports internal audit engagements, external audit processes, providing an important foundation for the Department's governance, assurance and oversight functions.
You will have a thorough understanding of NSW Treasury policies relevant to audit and risk committees, annual reporting and financial management, including TPP *****. Your strong written and verbal communication skills will support effective engagement with committee Chairs,



members and internal and external stakeholders. You will also bring a continuous improvement mindset, keeping abreast of best practice in committee management and governance, with the ability to review and improve administrative practices, systems and processes, and apply technology to strengthen the efficiency, quality and operation of committee management.
About You
You are an organised, proactive, reliable and trusted professional with a strong background in board or committee management, ideally in a governance, audit or risk environment. You are confident working independently and autonomously, exercising sound judgement to plan, prioritise and deliver high-quality secretariat support within agreed timeframes and protocols. You are solutions focused, bring a high level of integrity, discretion and ethical standards, and understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information and supporting senior decision-making forums.
