The opportunity
You will work closely with our senior lawyers and broader team across a diverse portfolio of sophisticated family law matters.
Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:
Managing complex parenting, property and financial matters;
Advising clients clearly and strategically throughout negotiations and proceedings;
Preparing court documents, correspondence, briefs and settlement proposals;
Appearing in court and instructing counsel where appropriate;
Participating in mediations, conferences and alternative dispute resolution;
Working closely with barristers, valuers, accountants, psychologists and other experts;
Building trusted,



long-term relationships with clients and referral partners;
Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers and legal support professionals, where appropriate;
Contributing to the continued development of the firm's knowledge, systems and professional standards; and
Working collaboratively with the broader team to achieve strong outcomes for our clients.
Our lawyers are expected to meet a budget of five billable hours per working day. We believe in being transparent about that expectation from the outset and providing the systems, support and quality of work required to meet it sustainably.
Professional development and mentoring
Professional development is a central part of this opportunity.
You will have access to mentoring from multiple Accredited Family Law Specialists and other senior members of the firm—not only the lawyer supervising a particular matter. This allows our lawyers to learn from a breadth of experience and develop their own technical judgement, strategic thinking and professional style.
For Senior Associate candidates interested in becoming an Accredited Family Law Specialist, Pullos Lawyers will actively support you through the accreditation process.
More broadly, we want our lawyers to continue expanding their expertise, take on increasingly sophisticated work and develop into recognised leaders in family law.
About you
You will be an experienced lawyer who has made a deliberate commitment to practising in family law.
We are looking for someone who:
Has substantial experience in family law appropriate to Associate or Senior Associate level;
Has received strong technical training and mentoring, preferably under an Accredited Family Law Specialist;
Demonstrates sound legal judgement and strong technical ability;




Can manage complex matters with appropriate autonomy;
Communicates clearly, sensitively and confidently with clients;
Understands the importance of both strategic advice and practical client care;
Is organised, commercially aware and capable of managing competing priorities;
Values collaboration and enjoys learning from and contributing to a team;
Takes pride in the quality of their work; and
Is interested in building their career over the long term as part of Pullos Lawyers.
For Senior Associate candidates, we would also value demonstrated leadership, experience mentoring junior lawyers and an interest in contributing to the ongoing development of the practice.
