Job Overview
The Clinical Dental Assistant provides essential four-handed dentistry support to the dentist, manages clinical workflows, ensures immaculate infection control, and delivers exceptional care to patients to make their experience comfortable and stress-free.
Core Responsibilities1. Chairside Assistance (Four-Handed Dentistry)
Clinical Support:
Assist the dentist across a full range of clinical procedures, including general restorative work, crown and bridge preparations, endodontics, and advanced surgical procedures (such as dental implant surgeries).
Instrumentation:
Anticipate the dentist's needs by efficiently passing instruments, managing moisture control (suctioning), and preparing materials (lutes, composites, impression materials) ahead of time.
Patient Management:
Prepare patients for treatment, ensure their comfort in the chair, and monitor their well-being throughout the procedure.
2. Infection Control & Sterilization
Sterilization Cycle:
Decontaminate, clean, package, and sterilize dental instruments and handpieces according to local healthcare standards and guidelines.
Surgery Turnaround:
Strictly adhere to infection control protocols to wipe down, disinfect, and set up treatment rooms between patients to prevent cross-contamination.
Compliance:
Maintain accurate sterilization logs, monitor autoclave cycles,



and ensure all clinical waste is disposed of safely and legally.
3. Clinical Workflow & Lab Management
Digital Diagnostics:
Take high-quality digital dental radiographs (X-rays) and intraoral scans as directed by the dentist, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols.
Lab Logistics:
Pour and trim diagnostic models, track incoming and outgoing laboratory cases (crowns, bridges, surgical guides), and ensure they are ready prior to patient appointments.
Inventory Control:
Monitor stock levels in the surgeries, track expiration dates, and communicate ordering needs to keep clinical supplies fully stocked.
4. Patient Communication & Record Keeping
Clinical Notes:
Accurately transcribe and document raw clinical shorthand, treatment plans, and periodontal charting into the practice management software during or immediately following procedures.
Post-Op Care:
Deliver clear, compassionate post-operative care instructions to patients following surgical or restorative treatments.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Certification:
Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (or equivalent national certification).
Radiography License:
A valid license/qualification to take dental radiographs is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with modern dental software (e.g., Dental4Windows, Exact, or Centrix) and experience with digital workflows, including intraoral scanners.
Clinical Competence:
Strong working knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and materials.
