The Opportunity
As the Manager
Infrastructure and Open Space, you will lead one of Council's most diverse and
high-profile portfolios, bringing together civil infrastructure, road safety,
parks, gardens, reserves, foreshores and public spaces. This is a critical
leadership role overseeing the assets and services that keep East Gippsland
safe, connected, accessible and thriving.
As part of Council's
Strategic Leadership Group, you will structure the long-term maintenance and
improvement of key community infrastructure and open spaces. You will balance
strategic asset planning with quality service delivery, while navigating
community expectations, stakeholder interests and Council priorities.
This role offers the
opportunity to influence the future of East Gippsland by driving business
improvement, service excellence and practical investment in community assets.
You will create the
environment for large, diverse teams to succeed by providing clear direction,
appropriate structures, high levels of accountability and strong leadership
support.
Shape the future of
East Gippsland's roads, parks and public spaces by
Providing strategic leadership and trusted advice on infrastructure,
asset management and open space matters.
Leading the long-term management of Council's road network and
associated assets, recognising the significant and lasting impact these
decisions have on East Gippsland's communities.
Overseeing the maintenance and enhancement of roads, parks, gardens,




reserves, foreshores and public spaces that are central to community life.
Leading
and developing a multidisciplinary team that deliver safe, sustainable and
customer-focused services.
Managing
significant budgets, contracts and service delivery programs to achieve
organisational objectives.
Building strong partnerships with government agencies, contractors,
stakeholders and the broader community.
This is a full-time, ongoing position,
based at Bruce Road Depot, Kalimna West.
You will have:
Relevant tertiary
qualifications and demonstrated experience relevant to the role. Qualifications
in Civil Engineering and the ability to become a Registered Engineer (or
working towards these qualifications) would be highly regarded.
Experience leading and
developing large multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets and delivering
business improvement.
Strong people management skills with the ability to build capability,
provide direction and create a culture of accountability.
Understanding of the political,
legal and socio-economic context in which Council operates.
Specialist knowledge across
road maintenance, road standards, road safety and open space planning and
service delivery.
Strong leadership, negotiation
and contractor management skills.
Strong communication skills and
a focus on excellent customer service.
If successful, you will need to undertake a
police check and psychometric testing. You must also be legally entitled to
work in Australia.
