Field Officer Grade 1-4 (Aboriginal Targeted)
Ongoing full-time 35 hours per week opportunity
Based at the Bents Basin State Conservation Area (Southwest Sydney – approx. 36 km's south of Penrith)
Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $60,629 pa to $80,886 pa + 17% loading for working weekends and public holidays & employer's contribution to superannuation.

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Field Officer to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
This is a targeted role under GSE Rule 26, and Aboriginal people are encouraged to apply.
About the location
Based on beautiful Dharawal, Dharug and Gundungurra Country, this role works across national parks and reserves in south-west Sydney, including areas that support a significant koala population and important habitat.
About the role
As part of the National Parks and Wildlife Service, you'll walk and work on Country, helping to care for the land, maintain park infrastructure and facilities, yarn with community, and keep culture strong.
You'll join a robust, supportive team that values connection to Country, respects cultural knowledge, and provides opportunities to work alongside other Aboriginal staff across the Greater Sydney region.
You'll be undertaking a broad range of operational field duties including:
Constructing and maintaining park assets.
Supporting feral animal and weed control.
Operating and maintaining plant and equipment safely.
Participating in fire management activities.
Responding to visitor enquiries and assisting with compliance activities when required.
About you
You'll bring a strong connection to community and environment, along with a practical focus on safety, teamwork and attention to detail. You'll be confident making decisions, solving problems in the field and, at times, supporting operations. You'll enjoy working outdoors, both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision. Your fitness, enthusiasm and willingness to learn will help you succeed in this diverse and hands-on role.

Successful candidates must meet the requirements of a pre-employment medical assessment during the recruitment process, including obtaining medical clearance to perform the duties associated with the role.
Essential requirements
Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent.
Ability to obtain Medium Rigid (MR) Licence and operate MR vehicles, if required.
Obtain a Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) Recovery Certification (Statement of Attainment) within 6 months of commencement as arranged by NPWS with compliant providers.
First Aid certificate obtained within 6 months of commencement.
Obtain General Construction Induction card (White Card) within 6 months from commencement.
Certification (Statement of Attainment) to operate a chainsaw to level 1 crosscut standard obtained within 12 months from commencement.
Firefighting requirements
Applicants must meet the requirements of a firefighting medical during the recruitment process and 1-3 yearly thereafter, which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake frontline firefighting roles.
Following commencement in a firefighting role, Field Officers must pass the task-based physical fitness assessment to a moderate level within their first 12 months of employment and annually thereafter.
Ability to carry out frontline firefighting duties and support roles including obtain and maintain NPWS certification as a crew member, within the first 12 months of their employment.
