About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ELICOS / High School Preparation Teacher to deliver engaging English language programs that prepare international students for mainstream secondary education. The successful applicant will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment while fostering students' language development, academic success and cultural confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality ELICOS and High School Preparation classes using student-centred teaching approaches.
Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum and learning outcomes.
Teach English language skills, including reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
Prepare students for academic study in Australian secondary schools.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate attendance, assessment and student progress records.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of international students.
Promote student wellbeing and encourage active participation in the classroom.
Work collaboratively with academic staff to ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Ensure compliance with ESOS, National Code and ELICOS Standards where applicable.
Essential Selection Criteria




Bachelor's degree or higher qualification.
Recognised TESOL qualification (such as CELTA, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Master's in TESOL, Applied Linguistics or a related field).
Demonstrated experience teaching ELICOS or English as an Additional Language (EAL/EALD).
Strong understanding of English language acquisition and communicative language teaching methodologies.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Current Working with Children Check.
Eligibility to work in Australia.
Desirable
Experience teaching High School Preparation programs.
Current teacher registration (where required).
Experience working with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of Australian secondary school curriculum and expectations.
Experience using digital learning technologies and Learning Management Systems.
