About the Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a
Consultant - Claims & Dispute Resolution
to join our growing Sydney team. This role is ideal for candidates with a foundation in planning & scheduling, project controls or experience across a project lifecycle and who are looking to gain experience in claims and dispute resolution whilst also continuing to develop your capability in planning, scheduling and project delivery. You'll gain exposure to complex projects, with the opportunity to build strong capability in the claims and disputes space. You will have the chance to support in the analysis of project variations, delay analysis, time-related claims and claims preparation & assessment as well as dispute resolution. This exposure will be given alongside the support and guidance of experienced consultants and project managers across a range of sectors such as building, infrastructure and energy.
Through supporting high-quality delivery, you'll work closely with technical teams to analyse project performance, assess delays, contribute to claims and dispute processes and engage with client stakeholders as your capability grows. This role suits someone who enjoys problem-solving, analytical thinking and structured reasoning, and who is looking to develop a long-term career in claims, disputes consultancy and commercial advisory.
You will primarily support TBH's
Claims & Dispute Resolution
service line, while also contributing to Planning & Scheduling services across projects, programmes, and portfolio environments. Working closely with senior team members, you will be involved in a diverse range of engineering and construction assignments.
This role will contribute to delay analysis, disputes, claims and variation assessments, and broader commercial advisory services across sectors such as energy, water, and infrastructure. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to strategic advisory work supporting disputes, claims and variation assessments, as well as planning and scheduling services and client-facing delivery across sectors including energy, water, infrastructure and international projects.
As our
Consultant – Claims & Dispute Resolution
you'll gain hands‐on experience across high-value,
complex claims and dispute matters in addition to planning and scheduling projects where you will contribute to a range of activities across both service lines, including:
Supporting the delivery of technical pre-contract advice, including reviewing time and cost-related clauses, risk allocation and specifications to set projects up for success
Assisting in the development of delay mitigation and recovery strategies, helping clients respond proactively to emerging issues
Contributing to forensic analysis of delays and disruption, identifying root causes and analysing project impacts
Supporting the assessment and quantification of time and cost claims, including extensions of time, variations and prolongation costs
Applying planning, construction and infrastructure knowledge to understand how projects are delivered in practice — and where they go wrong
Developing capability in structured analysis and clear, evidence-based reporting, a core skill in dispute resolution and expert work
Supporting the development and maintenance of construction schedules from drawings and project documentation
Assisting with progress updates and resequencing activities to mitigate schedule slippage
Preparing schedule management documentation, including basis of schedule outputs
Reviewing and analysing project data and presenting insights to support decision-making
Assisting with preparation of client deliverables including analysis, reporting and project outputs
Building strong relationships with internal teams and client stakeholders through clear and professional communication
What you'll bring
As our successful candidate you'll bring:
A relevant degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Architecture or similar
2 - 3 years' experience in site engineering, planning and scheduling within construction, infrastructure, or related sectors
Proven Project Planning experience within construction or infrastructure
Proficiency in tools such as Primavera, P6 and Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
with a high level of attention to detail
The ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, including report writing and stakeholder engagement
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
A foundational understanding of project management and project controls principles
Previous experience working for a contract or sub-contractor (desirable but not essential)
Previous consultancy or professional services experience (desirable but not essential)
