BDAC is an ACCO (Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation) registered as a member under the umbrella of VACCHO (Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation) and represented nationally through NACCHO (National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation).
BDAC was founded to represent and provide services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on Djaara Country.
BDAC has a responsibility to ensure growth of services, development of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, better and improved health outcomes for our people, improved quality of life and be a lead agency in providing self-determination employment and career pathways for Aboriginal people.

About the Position
The Health Promotion Coordinator leads the implementation, coordination, and evaluation of culturally protected health promotion and primary prevention initiatives across BDAC.
Working within Aboriginal Community Controlled principles, the role strengthens preventative health systems, builds organisational capability, fosters strategic partnerships, and supports evidence-informed approaches that improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The role provides regional leadership for the Working Together for Health (WTFH) initiative while driving local prevention, screening, health literacy, and wellbeing activities that align with BDAC's strategic priorities and Community aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate implementation of the Working Together for Health (WTFH) program across BDAC and regional partner ACCHOs.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with ACCHO's across LMARG.




Support partner organisations to assess current preventive health systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
Facilitate regional planning, governance meetings, communities of practice and collaborative projects.
Develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based health promotion initiatives aligned with identified Community priorities.
Strengthen organisational capacity for prevention and early intervention through training, mentoring and workforce development.
Lead initiatives that improve uptake of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Assessments (MBS Item 715) and other preventive health activities.
Use data, quality improvement processes and Community feedback to monitor outcomes and inform service improvement.
Develop health promotion resources, campaigns and activities that are culturally safe, community-led and trauma-informed.
Support integration of prevention and health promotion principles across clinical and non-clinical BDAC programs.
Represent BDAC on regional networks, working groups and relevant stakeholder forums.
About You
Demonstrated experience in health promotion, public health, community development or preventative health.
Understanding of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and commitment to self-determination.
Knowledge of health promotion frameworks, social determinants of health and evidence-based prevention strategies.




Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships across Aboriginal and mainstream sectors.
Experience planning, implementing and evaluating projects and programs.
Strong written communication skills including reports, funding reports and presentations.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to analyse and interpret data to support service improvement and population health approaches.
Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
High level computer literacy including Microsoft Office and data management systems.
Understanding of culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice.
Preferred/Desired
Previous experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community members or in an Aboriginal organisation.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Public Health, Health Promotion, Community Development, Health Sciences or related discipline; or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Experience managing regional or multi-agency health initiatives.
Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) methodologies
