Duxton Bees is a farmgate beekeeping Company. The primary objective of Duxton Bees is to operate a protected, sustainable and profitable Apiary operation. Duxton Bees is a large commercial beekeeping business in Australia, supporting agriculture through pollination services and honey production across different geographical locations within Australia.
The Role
As part of Duxton Bees continued growth, we are bringing our honey testing capabilities in-house, creating an exciting opportunity to expand this service and support the broader Australian beekeeping industry with trusted, locally delivered honey testing.
We are looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join our team and contribute to our commitment to quality, innovation, and excellence in honey analysis. Reporting to the Commercial Sales Manager, this hands-on role is ideal for someone who has a strong eye for detail and takes pride in producing accurate and timely results that uphold the quality and integrity of our honey products.
For the right candidate, this role offers up to 20 hours per week.
The Day to Day
Prepare and group honey samples for testing, ensuring sample integrity and traceability;
Conduct a wide range of chemical and physical analyses on honey samples,
accurately processing and recording results;
Identify anomalies and report quality or compliance issues;
Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment;
Maintain accurate and consistent laboratory records and databases;
Create and implement laboratory processes and controls; and
Assist in upholding food safety and quality management systems (including HACCP compliance).
About You
Certificate II in Laboratory Skills or a related qualification (preferred);
At least 2 years' experience working in a laboratory environment;
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy;
Well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills;
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team;
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload; and
A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
