This unique Ranger Indigenous Identified role offers the opportunity to work across Cairns and Cape York, helping protect some of Queensland's most significant natural and cultural landscapes. You'll work closely with Traditional Owners, Indigenous Land Trust Rangers and local communities while contributing to the management of Cape York's protected areas.

As Ranger Indigenous Identified, you will lead and coordinate compliance, enforcement and investigation activities across the Cape York Management Area, with a robust focus on supporting joint management outcomes and protecting natural and cultural values. You'll deliver compliance patrols, investigate incidents, respond to enforcement matters, and work closely with Traditional Owners,



Indigenous Land Trust and Corporation Rangers, government agencies and park users. The role also includes mentoring and training Indigenous Rangers, helping deliver Indigenous Compliance Training, developing work programs, maintaining records and reports, and supporting emergency response activities when required. Travel across remote Cape York is a regular part of the role, including extended field trips, four-wheel-drive travel, and occasional aerial and vessel-based patrols.
We're looking for someone with strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills who can confidently work with communities and stakeholders to achieve positive compliance outcomes. Experience in compliance, investigations, park management, natural resource management or Traditional Owner engagement will be highly regarded. A current unrestricted manual driver's licence is mandatory. This is an identified position and only applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people will be considered.
