About the Program:
The
Reducing Demand Program
supports individuals affected by alcohol misuse through a holistic and culturally safe approach. The program combines cultural healing, alcohol education, trauma-informed support, and community-based initiatives to promote wellbeing, strengthen resilience, and create positive outcomes for individuals, families, and the Mount Isa community.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in cultural healing activities, including on-country visits and yarning circles.
Support individuals through culturally adapted alcohol education workshops.
Work with trauma-informed professionals to provide counselling and support services.
Assist in organising peer-led recovery programs and family support initiatives.
Collaborate with Elders and local service providers to enhance cultural connectedness.
Essential Criteria:
Understanding of First Nations cultural practices and their significance in healing.
Robust interpersonal skills and the ability to work with clients affected by alcohol misuse.
Willingness to engage in ongoing training and professional development.
Effective oral and written communication skills
.
Computer-literate and the ability to complete reports.
Current Driver's License.
Current National Police Check.
