The Software Modeller develops, validates, and maintains models that describe system architecture, behavior, performance, and interfaces across mechanical, electronic, control and software domains. This role translates stakeholder requirements into robust, testable models and scripts, interprets simulation results, and collaborates with engineers to drive model-based design, verification and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
Develop and maintain architectural, behavioral and performance models for multi-domain systems (mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, control and software).
Translate requirements into precise, testable models and automated scripts; interpret and report simulation results.
Provide technical and engineering support as part of project teams and participate in design reviews.
Prepare scope documentation and model deliverables for review by Senior Engineers and Project Managers.
Create and maintain validation, verification and test scripts; review own work for accuracy.
Implement model-based testing and data acquisition strategies; support instrumentation and testing activities.
Maintain traceability between requirements, models, tests and reports.
Communicate model assumptions, limitations and results to internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain and develop technical skills and competencies through the organisation's quality system and self-directed learning.
Contribute to documentation and formal report writing for modelling activities.
Required qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or similar with strong mathematics and programming fundamentals.
Practical knowledge of modelling and simulation tools or languages (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, Simscape, UML/SysML, domain‐specific tools).
Experience or coursework in systems modelling, control systems, data analysis,



and instrumentation.
Proficiency in general-purpose programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Java, or equivalent).
Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Experience and level
Entry to early career (Graduate/Junior level).
Industry experience is desirable but not required; internships, project work, or academic modelling projects are acceptable.

Technical modelling and simulation skills across multiple domains.
Solid grounding in physics, mathematics, control principles, and systems thinking.
Programming and scripting for model automation, data processing and test harnesses.
Data acquisition, instrumentation and testing familiarity.
Model validation, verification and report writing capability.
Proficiency with CAD concepts and basic database skills (e.g., MS Access) is advantageous.
Ability to manage external business relationships and communicate professionally.

Reports to: Senior Engineer, Lead Architect or Project Manager.

Location: Hybrid or on-site as required for testing, workshops and reviews.
Typical working conditions: Engineering project team environment with occasional after-hours support for critical testing or releases.
