About the role
Join SA Pathology as a Scientific Lead and take the next step in your leadership career, guiding a high-performing laboratory team that delivers accurate, timely and high-quality diagnostic services. You'll apply your specialist scientific expertise across complex diagnostic testing while providing leadership, strategic direction and operational oversight that supports outstanding patient care and laboratory excellence.
Working collaboratively with management, Pathologists and multidisciplinary teams, you'll drive quality improvement, mentor and develop staff, oversee laboratory performance and implement new technologies and best practice procedures. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future of pathology services through innovation, continuous improvement and a robust commitment to quality, safety and professional excellence.
• Lead scientific and operational laboratory services
• Perform and oversee complex diagnostic testing
• Mentor, train and develop scientific staff
• Drive quality, accreditation and compliance outcomes
• Implement new technologies and laboratory procedures
• Manage workflow, equipment and laboratory performance




• Collaborate with Pathologists and multidisciplinary teams
• Champion continuous improvement and service excellence
About You
We're looking for an experienced scientific leader who combines advanced pathology expertise with a passion for developing people, improving services and delivering exceptional diagnostic outcomes.
• Eligible medical scientist qualification under NPAAC standards
• Extensive pathology experience with proven team leadership
• Expertise in quality systems, diagnostics and laboratory practice
• Strong communication, problem solving and service improvement skills

SCSS encompasses BreastScreen SA, SA Dental, SA Medical Imaging, SA Pathology, and SA Pharmacy.
