About the role
As a Library Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our library service, delivering exceptional customer experiences in a busy, hands-on environment. This is a frontline, operational role where no two days are the same. You'll assist customers with enquiries, technology, library resources, and memberships, support the delivery of engaging programs, and help maintain welcoming, safe, and vibrant library spaces.
We're looking for team players with a strong customer service background who enjoy engaging with people from all walks of life. You'll be confident building positive relationships, promoting library services and eResources, and creating inclusive experiences that encourage learning and community connection.
This role also requires the physical capacity to undertake regular shelving and movement of library materials, along with extended periods working on the library floor. Tasks include bending, reaching, lifting, and standing for prolonged periods.
Flexibility is essential,



as you will be required to be available to work across the entire Library Service and undertake weekend shifts in line with operational requirements. Our Library Service operates across multiple locations, including Southport, Broadbeach, Nerang, Helensvale, Runaway Bay, Ormeau, Upper Coomera, Burleigh Waters, Coolangatta, Elanora, and Robina.
About you
You thrive in a customer-focused environment and are passionate about providing friendly, professional service. You communicate with confidence and empathy, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and remain calm and resilient when responding to a wide range of customer situations.
You enjoy presenting and engaging with groups of all ages and are comfortable supporting the delivery of library programs and community activities. You're also confident learning new technologies and using digital tools to help customers access library resources, services, and self-service equipment.
