East Arnhem Regional Council (EARC) is seeking Payroll Officer.The Payroll Officer will play an integral role in ensuring the objectivesof the Finance Department are met, by providing accounting and finance services to East Arnhem Regional Council (EARC).
What you'll do:
Processing of payment runs where required, including timesheet data entry, leave form entries, misc. file checks and processing EFT file and pay advices.
Checking of payroll reports and timesheets after completion of data entry by other Human Resources and/or Payroll Officer.
New Employee entries and data maintenance.
Confirm system entry of recent employees' master file details and establish payroll personnel files.
Calculate/Analyse any applicable back pays higher duties, tax adjustments and terminations.
Prepare end of year reports and payment summaries
Liaise with management and employees on payroll related queries and prepare reports as required.
Offer support to interpret relevant legislation, awards and agreements.
Ensure superannuation payments are undertaken and reconciled.
ATO filing requirements are processed in a timely manner at the end of financial year.
Ensure wage and salary increments/increases are undertaken in a timely and accurate manner i.e. these maybe Enterprise Agreements or state wage case decisions
Ensure all required documents are recorded in MagiQ and all other reviewed and HR approved documents relating to payroll, performance management, new employee paperwork and all other applicable Documentation are sent through the appropriate channels for actioning and records management.
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times and records management is conducted appropriately. Maintain and record a number of HR forms, template,
confidential information and other HR operational documentation.
Provide various Statistical reports including required credential and probity reports i.e. Payroll Component Report, Leave Reports, Employee Statistics
Actively participate in all offered training and development opportunities.
Comply with all reasonable Workplace Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
Other duties as reasonably directed by the Finance Manager and/or General Manager - People and Corporate Services.
What we're looking for:
Tertiary qualifications, or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
Proven experience in preparing and writing reports.
Knowledge of HR operations functions, including recruitment.
Excellent project coordination capability.
Ability to prioritise and work under minimum supervision.
Advanced MS Office skills combined with a rapid and accurate typing skills.
Sound internet and researching skills.
Solid problem-solving skills.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Ability to interpret relevant awards and legislations.
Previous experience living and/or working in remote Australian First Nations'communities.
Knowledge of Technology One and/or MaqIQ Docs.
Demonstrated high level of cross-cultural awareness to ensure effective participation in a multi-cultural workplace.
Awareness of issues affecting First Nations People in Australia.
What you'll get
Salary:(Level 5) - $88,****** - $93,****** per annum
