As an Outreach Worker – Community Pantry, you'll be key to our mission to enrich lives and strengthen communities. Working within our Community & Mission – Financial Wellbeing and Community team, you'll help deliver affordable food and essential support to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. By partnering with Anglican churches, volunteers and local communities, you'll ensure every Community Pantry provides a welcoming, secure and dignified experience for those who need it most. Your opportunity As our Outreach Worker – Community Pantry, you will coordinate the day-to-day delivery of Anglicare's Community Pantry program across Greater Sydney and the Illawarra. From preparing and driving pantry vehicles to supporting volunteers and building strong parish partnerships, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our services are delivered safely, efficiently and with genuine care. Working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, you'll contribute to creating welcoming community spaces where people experiencing hardship can access affordable food, practical support and meaningful connection.
With integrity and resilience, you will:
Deliver Community Pantry services across multiple locations throughout Greater Sydney and the Illawarra.
Prepare, stock and maintain Community Pantry vans before and after each service.
Drive to Community Pantry sites and coordinate the smooth delivery of services.
Provide exceptional customer service to shoppers, parish volunteers and church partners.
Build and maintain strong relationships with Anglican parishes and community stakeholders.
Complete daily financial reconciliations, weekly banking and accurate client documentation.
Maintain client statistics and administrative records using Anglicare systems.
Promote a safe working environment by adhering to Work Health and Safety requirements.
Contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the Community Pantry program.
What you'll bring
You are a customer-focused and community-minded professional who enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds. You thrive in a hands-on role, take pride in delivering excellent service and are passionate about making a practical difference in people's lives. and enjoy working collaboratively to strengthen communities.
You will also need
Previous experience in customer service, community services, food services or a related industry.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and administration skills with high attention to detail.
Experience maintaining accurate records and completing financial reconciliations.
Current NSW Driver Licence.
Confidence working independently across multiple community locations.
A genuine commitment to providing respectful and compassionate support to people experiencing hardship.
Ideally, you will also have
Certificate or equivalent qualification in Community Services, Warehouse Logistics or a related discipline.
Experience working within the charity, community services or food relief sector.
Forklift Licence (desirable).
Experience working alongside volunteers and community organisations.
Understanding of food donation programs and community-based support services.
